Blackberry from RIM will be banned if not cooperative |
Following the act of RIM that prefer to build a server in Singapore than in Indonesia, Indonesia Telecommunication Regulatory Agency (BRTI) threatened to stop the BlackBerry Messenger service in Indonesia.
"Since RIM has not been too cooperative, it is possible that we will terminate the service of BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) and hence the BlackBerry Messenger (BBM, Blackberry popular services in Indonesia), and it will just be like any other phone," said Heru Sutadi.
As is known the construction of a server is one of the four points of agreement between Research In Motion and the Indonesian government.
Although the deal was not specifically mentioned in which the server will be built. However, the Indonesian government feels that RIM should have greater priority in Indonesia which is the place where most BlackBerry users in Southeast Asia, far exceeding the number of users in Singapore.
In addition, according to Heru, urging the government to have a server that was built in the country is also caused mainly due to security reasons. Currently, traffic data through BIS and BBM is processed in Canada, making it impossible for the government to monitor and protect data sent by millions of users in Indonesia.
