Malaysia want closer relations with Indonesia

Malaysian Defence Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid said that Malaysia always wanted to establish a better relationship and partnership with Indonesia.

"For good relations we need support and commitment from all elements of the nation, both from Malaysia and Indonesia," he said, after attending a training of human resources in Jakarta on Sunday evening.

Ahmad Zahid admitted, many issues facing both countries, especially border issues and Indonesian workers or female workers.

"But do not let all the problems were exaggerated to disrupt the good relations of two countries. In fact the issue was politicized third parties who are not happy with the Malaysia-Indonesia relations," he said.

Therefore, Malaysian Defence Minister continued, there needs to be commitment from all elements in both Malaysia and Indonesia to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields.

"Not only Government to Government, but also to Politician Politician, bussines to bussines, and people to people of both countries should also have a commitment to strengthen relations between the two countries more closely and better," said Ahmad Zahid.

If it was intertwined strong, then all the problems facing the two countries can be resolved properly without having to be exaggerated, he added.

Ahmad Zahid confirmed, although there are various problems encountered, Malaysia and Indonesia will not fight.

"Back when Indonesia launched a confrontation with Malaysia, Adam Malik had said Indonesia and Malaysia will never be at war if one party does not agree the war is done," he said.

Ahmad Zahid asserts, "Do all the existing problems have been exaggerated to forget that we are allied countries that have a language, a culture that is almost the same."
