A helicopter was shot in Timika, Papua, Saturday, December 17, 2011. One person was injured in that scene. Helicopters were on their way toward Tembagapura Timika district. Heavy Lift helicopters type MI was carrying 25 employees of PT Freeport Indonesia. Helicopters were fired upon while in Mile 50.
Police Public Relations Head of Papua, Comr Wachyono confirmed the incident. "The information is being shot. That temporary information, Mimika Police are still investigating at the scene," said Wachyono.
The helicopter was carrying Freeport employees. "We do not yet know whether or not there were any casualties," he said. "But the information is no passenger was hurt due to broken glass."
Wachyono also claimed police did not know the perpetrators of the shooting came from which group. "We do not know, still being investigated," he said.
